Real Estate/Development Associate

Location: Indianapolis, IN

REAL ESTATE/DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

FLSA Status: Exempt/Salary

Schedule: Full-time

Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000

We are looking for a full-time Development Associate with a drive to continually learn, grow, and succeed.

Principal Objective of the Position: The Real Estate/Development Associate will report directly to the Vice President of Development/Owner and support the Development Team with managing multiple phases of the real estate development process (e.g., site selection, due diligence, financial analysis, budgeting, contract negotiation, site acquisition, investment package creation, and permit processing) for affordable and market rate apartments, self-storage facilities, and other real estate opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

  • Perform market research, demographic studies, apartment database reviews, and competitive analysis
  • Perform site selection for apartments, self-storage, and other real estate development opportunities.
  • Compare and contrast the Qualified Allocation Plans of various states
  • Coordinate and participate in multifunctional teams to analyze existing market conditions, unit mix, property and unit amenities and features, rental rates, and operational expenses at given properties
  • Develop a matrix of key competitors including property locations, specific amenities, and pricing in strategic markets and submarkets

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Training/Education:

  • College degree in Business Administration, Finance, Real Estate or other related field of study required
  • Graduate degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance or Real Estate a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Certifications in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and/or other various housing finance certification a plus
  • Indiana and/or Colorado Real Estate License a plus

Experience/Skills:

  • 3-5+ years’ experience in multifamily development needed
  • Experience in multifamily or and other real estate development required.
  • Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues a must
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Indiana and to other states required
  • Accurate, detail oriented, dependable, and punctual a must
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to master project-specific software systems including, but not limited to: Procore, Yardi, and various others
  • Knowledge of Low-income Housing Tax Credits and other affordable housing financing products preferable
  • Experience in affordable multifamily development preferable

A valid driver’s license, background, DMV check, and drug screen will be required upon acceptance of an offer to the candidate.

Contacts and Liaisons: The RealEstate/Development Associate will regularly communicate with all necessary RealAmerica Management Company employees, their supervisors, outside vendors and other individuals as deemed necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
